Dear Experian,
Does putting a security freeze on my file prevent me from getting my free annual credit report?
- CPI
Dear CPI,
You can still get your free annual credit report if you have frozen your credit file.
The system for requesting your personal report has been designed to recognize when you are requesting your personal report so that the transaction can be completed. The same is true of credit monitoring services to which you might subscribe.
The file freezing regulations included an exception so that you could continue to access your credit report through services that provide personal access to it. There are also exceptions for allowing your existing creditors to monitor your credit.
Thanks for asking.
