Remove Incorrect Employment Information from Credit Report

Hand lifting portrait card out from others
Dear Experian,

There is a previous employer listed in my credit report that I have never heard of nor worked for. How might this impact my credit rating, and how do I correct the information?

- JCO

Dear JCO,

Employment information is supplied to Experian by creditors, usually as a result of information you provided on a credit application. It is listed on the credit report as part of your identifying information, and does not have any impact on your credit worthiness or your credit scores.

You can request that the employment listing be removed from your report by going online to dispute your credit report information. Simply follow the steps in the online process to dispute the employer listing.

Your personal report will also include a toll-free telephone number you can call for assistance. A representative may be able to help you identify the source of the employment information.

Thanks for asking.
