States with the Highest and Lowest Amount of Retail Debt

The average number of retail trades per consumer has been trending down since 2007. But the average consumer retail debt is trending up, roughly $73 year-over-year. When analyzing single-store credit card debt by state in 2017, we found:

States with the highest retail debt:

  1. Texas ($2,198)
  2. Alaska ($2,170)
  3. Arkansas ($2,067)

States with the lowest amount of retail debt:

  1. Wisconsin ($1,374)
  2. Minnesota ($1,440)
  3. Hawaii ($1,442)

Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.
