What a great start to our 2015 Client Summit! The first day of #EMSSUMMIT was filled with fun, laughter, and insight. We kicked it off with Experian Marketing Services North America President Matt Seeley and SVP of Global Marketing Ashley Johnston. The pair welcomed the filled room to the #Utopia themed event, explaining the significance of each marketing organization defining and working towards their own utopia.
The first to be welcomed to the #EMSSUMMIT stage was keynote speaker Erik Wahl. Erik is a graffiti artist, speed-painter, author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur who inspired us to challenge our traditional thinking and return to a childlike sense of wonder and creativity. He reiterated his point by quoting Albert Einstein, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” You can watch Erik’s Wahl’s speech here.
The next speaker on the main stage was WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, Stephanie McMahon. In her conversation with Ashley Johnston, she talked about WWE brand’s strategy and how they work to remain relevant and engaging for all of their fans. Stephanie emphasized the importance of social media in creating meaningful interactions with their 500+ million followers, stating that “social media allows our fans to have that voice, even when they aren’t in the arena. And we listen.” Listening to their fans is what Stephanie says makes WWE so successful. You can listen to Stephanie’s full conversation here. (But get some Kleenax ready – watching may leave you in tears.)
Another highlight of day one was when the United States National Soccer team members Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe and coach Jill Ellis came on stage to chat with Matt Seely about teamwork, leadership and agility. The crew discussed their amazing World Cup experience and the recent ticker tape parade, and reiterated that they never doubted their ability to achieve their goal. With their minds focused on their Utopia, they were able to inspire people across the country with their amazing win. To watch the whole panel, go here.
The final speaker of the day was Joe Manganiello, star of True Blood and Magic Mike XXL. During his conversation with Jennifer Schulz, Joe discussed perseverance, especially as you try to pursue your dreams. When asked how to deal with failure, he said “lick your wounds and come up with a better plan.” He went on to talk about how his success in acting came through connecting his characters with his audience’s soul.
