I imagine many of you experience this situation – an inbox filled with invitations to participate in vendor-sponsored events. From webinars and local seminars to large conferences, these invitations come in from both trusted vendors as well as new ones looking to start a relationship with us.
Recently, I participated in a half day seminar sponsored by a marketing automation software vendor. The topic was spot on for my job – how to better align marketing and sales while ensuring return of your marketing dollars. The location perfect – a few blocks from our office. Still, deciding to take an afternoon away from the office was not an easy decision. Also, I remembered pondering whether the discussion would be a product push. Well, I was pleasantly surprised, content was extremely informative.
Although, there was certainly some information about the sponsors, the focus was around best practices and followed the previously advertised agenda topics. I left the afternoon feeling that I had learned a lot! I argue that stepping away from our daily duties allows us to do more, think differently, improve our processes, and get re-energized to take on new challenges.
In today’s world where we are constantly being bombarded with more and more information, choosing what to pay attention to is the real challenge.
In today’s world where we are constantly being bombarded with more and more information, choosing what to pay attention to is the real challenge. Well, as a part of a marketing team that is constantly looking for ways to reach new prospects with relevant content and to offer our customers access to information that will help them get the most out of their QAS software, I was happy to be in the recipient end and feel that I got something out of it. So, my goal is to allow myself to take more time out of my day to bring fresh ideas into my routine!
