How long do accounts included in chapter 13 bankruptcy remain on your report?
- RCH
Dear RCH,
A Chapter 13 bankruptcy remains on your report for seven years from the date it is filed. It will be listed in the public records section of the report.
Accounts included in Chapter 13 bankruptcy that were current prior to the bankruptcy filing remain on your report for seven years from the bankruptcy filing date.
Accounts that were delinquent prior to being included in the bankruptcy will be removed seven years from the original delinquency date of the accounts.
In some cases, an account may be reaffirmed, meaning it is no longer part of the bankruptcy filing. Reaffirmed accounts will be reported just like any other open, active account.
Thanks for asking.
