We filed bankruptcy two years ago and want to either refinance our home or possibly buy a new home. When the bank pulled our credit they said that our existing mortgage is not being reported on Equifax, Experian or Transunion. We have all of our monthly statements from our lender verifying that we have been paying on our house for the past 2 years. How do we show this information to you so you can start reporting all of our mortgage history on our credit report?

Dear ETL,
Unfortunately, you cannot report the account information to Experian. The information needs to be reported to us directly by the creditor.
You mentioned that you filed bankruptcy two years ago, but you did not indicate whether your mortgage account was initially included in the bankruptcy. If the account was included and then reaffirmed, or if the account is being paid through the bankruptcy plan, it may have something to do with why the information is not appearing. The only way to find out for sure is to talk to your lender.
Contact your mortgage lender and ask why they have not reported your mortgage account to us. If they decide to report, they must first be validated by Experian as a legitimate creditor and sign a contract where they agree to report legally and accurately and respond to consumer disputes regarding their accounts.
It's important to understand that the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) does not require businesses to report to all three national credit reporting companies or any of them. Instead, businesses can choose to report to one, two or all three of them, or not report your accounts at all. It's possible that your mortgage lender has made a business decision to not report its accounts.
Thanks for asking.
